Favourite Met Gala Nails and Manicure Looks 2016
Last night stars gathered for the 2016 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This year’s theme was “Manus X Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology”. It was unsurprising to see a lot of silver and metallic outfits, but of course I was keeping an eagle eye on the Met Gala nails!
Whilst many opted for either a plain dark nail or nude, there were a few manicures that caught my eye. Here are my favourite Met Gala nails and manicures for 2016:
1. Gigi Hadid

Gigi and her manicurist, Mary Soul absolutely nailed (excuse the pun!) this look. The silver metallic, mirror shine nails are very much “machina” but I also love the Louboutin style of the nails with hidden crystals on the underside. The nails complimented Gigi’s ring and beau Zayn Malik’s outfit. It’s no surprise these are my favourite look as you can easily get the same look with Silver Lightning Minx, one of my all time favourite Minx nails designs. Oh, and Gigi’s manicure reportedly cost $2000(!!!) but for those of us who prefer to spend a little less on our nail looks, a NAILS BY METS Minx manicure is only £55!
2. Kate Hudson

As a nail art fan, I was so excited to see Kate Hudson rocking some bold nail art. The nude nails with black and silver outlined half moon and tips were perfect for the occasion. Manicurist Alicia Torello used OPI Infinite Shine to create the design. Want to get a simple version of this design? Opt for a nude nail with black and silver half moons only – perfect if you don’t have long natural nails or enhancements. 3. Selena Gomez

Celebrity Manicurist Tom Bachik opted for a glitter gradient look for Selena Gomez using Red Carpet Manicure. What I love about this look is that it isn’t an obvious glitzy Chrismassy glitter look but rather a textured, hard, metallic look. The dark to light grey nails with black and silver glitter matched Selena’s studded white skirt and leather corset really well – Tom nailed it (as usual, he’s the manicurist to Jennifer Lopez too!) A long lasting rockstar nail look can be easily achieved with Gelish or CND Shellac and Lecente glitters.
