A Letter from Mets

September to me marks the beginning of a new season. I was never a big fan of Autumn.  I always wanted to fly away to a hot and sunny destination but this year, I’m excited for hot chocolate and duvet days, updating nail colours and palettes to fit the season and I’m VERY excited for the huge NAILS BY METS milestone I have finally reached!

I launched NAILS BY METS on 1 January 2011 whilst working full time as an I.T. Consultant.  I would work a full day in I.T. and then travel to clients in the evenings. I worked weekends. I lacked sleep. Responding to emails at midnight was a norm. Painting nail art menus at 3am was a habit. Relationships were strained as I didn’t have much time to meet up with loved ones and it wasn’t unusual for me to fall asleep when in company! Despite being constantly exhausted, whenever I visited clients or worked nail events, I never felt like I was “going to work” or that it was a chore. NAILS BY METS made me happy. I have a real passion for nails, nail art and making my clients look and feel amazing through nails.

Fast forward to 2014 and I gave birth to my first child, the beautiful Mila. I took a year’s maternity leave from my I.T. job and used the time to focus on family and building NAILS BY METS. Every time I thought about going back to I.T. I was overcome with a sense of dread and I constantly had a dark, grey, cloud hanging over my head (much like the current weather in London!) A few weeks ago I made the decision that I would not return to my IT job.

It’s true what they say; when you become a mother your priorities change. I didn’t want to travel almost 2 hours to work in an office, doing a job I had no real interest in. I definitely didn’t want to waste another 2 hours travelling back and missing my baby’s dinner or bath time. If I’m going to leave my baby to goto work, I’m going to make sure it’s to do something I love.

NAILS BY METS now has my full attention. I’ve stepped outside of my comfort zone and said goodbye to my safety net.  September is the first month that I’m taking NAILS BY METS “full-time”.  I feel free and full of energy!  There are a lot of exciting things happening behind the scenes and I want to share them with you (via this blog and my new e-magazine!) I want to give you nail care tips so you can learn how to get the most out of your NAILS BY METS nail treatments, I want to reward your loyalty (still working on how best to do that!) and I want you to follow me on this wonderful journey!

I wish you all a fabulous September and I hope you are embracing the changing season.

Mets x
