“Nail It! Awesome Activities” children’s nail art book

In October last year I was part of a very exciting project, the “Nail It! Awesome Activities” children’s nail art book by Priddy Books.  The book was released on 1 May 2015 and  I couldn’t contain my excitement when I received my copy in the post.  My daughter Mila seemed to be drawn to the colourful front cover!  Of course she’s too young to wear nail polish (or any form of make-up) but it made me happy to see she loved the book!

I was hired alongside another fab nail technician, Louise, to paint the models’ nails for the visuals. This was the first time I had been involved in a book and it was a great experience.  We shot over 3 days in the autumn/fall half term and had a number of young models (aged 8-10) with tiny nails who we had to recreate the nail art designs on.  It was a challenge as I’m used to painting on adult nails that provide a bigger “canvas” but I managed to work as precisely as possible.  As you can see from the behind the scene images below, the photos were close-up so any imperfections could easily be seen.

The book is jam-packed with over 20 nail art ideas and comes with over 1000 nail art stickers.  Each nail art design is broken down into a simple step-by-step nail tutorial.  There are plenty of pages that encourage little ones to design their own nail art patterns – perfect for practicing artwork and engaging kids’ imaginations and creativity.  The great thing about this book is that all of the designs are child appropriate – I’m a big believer of letting children be, well, children and the cute penguin, sparkly giraffe, mini moustaches and other wonderful bright nail art designs definitely prevent any little girl from growing up before her time.

The book is all a bit of fun that can be done at the weekend or during half term.  It’s the perfect gift and I know that if this book had been around when I was a little girl, it would have been top of my “want” list!

The book is now available to purchase from Amazon: Nail Art! (Awesome Activities).

Would you buy this book for a little girl?
